Volunteer Opportunities

There is SO much to be done at the MiniFarm in the fall - cutting back dead plants, disassembling the flower field, digging dahlia tubers, washing & dividing dahlia tubers, planting spring bulbs (we have over 9000 tulip bulbs coming!), collecting leaves to mulch the flower field, and more.  We warmly welcome a hand from anyone who would like to get involved and get a little dirty! This is a great chance to see how we do things here and get your questions answered!

We hope to be planting all of our tulip bulbs today (assuming they've all arrived by then and the weather is good).  This involves digging three big trenches,  laying the bulbs out in the trenches (like eggs in a carton!), then covering them back up with the dirt and a load of compost.  Registration for each time slot will be limited, as we can only fit a few people in a trench at a time.  Volunteers will be awarded with a bag of our favorite giant tulip bulbs for planting in their own garden!

Please RSVP if you plan on attending so that we can plan that day's tasks  accordingly.  Likewise, if you RSVP and are unable to come, please let us know in advance.  We ask that you show up as close to the start time for your shift as possible so that we can organize our volunteers accordingly.

lease note:  These events are for adults and capable/willing older children only.  Please leave small children and pets at home.
