After the love of growing flowers took hold of us, we longed for a way to have flowers in the cold winter months too. We stumbled across two incredible female farmers out east who grow hundreds of thousands of tulips over winter and were inspired to sign up for their workshop. Stacey completed The Tulip Workshop in 2022 and immediately started growing winter tulips and hyacinths indoors on some of the coldest days of the year.

We plant tulip and hyacinth bulbs into bulb crates, using our root cellar and basement grow space to bring thousands of tulips into bloom from January through April. Growing them this way produces some of the most perfect tulips we've seen because we're able to control their growing conditions (unlike our spring Colorado weather that fluctuates drastically from day to day!). We're also able to stagger them across several months so that we have a continuous supply of blooms all winter! In April the field tulips start to bloom, giving us a rainbow of beautiful specialty tulips consistently from January through May!

Winter tulips are available at The Flower House on weekends starting in mid-January. (Temps must be above freezing for us to open.) We also have winter tulip bouquets available in our online store starting in January. Tulip bouquets can be ordered online, for local pickup, anytime from January through May.​
Valentine's Day Flowers​​

One of our biggest days for winter tulips is Valentine's Day. It's one of the biggest flower holidays nationwide, and we wanted to make sure our community had access to fresh, beautiful, locally grown flowers for the occasion (not the generic red roses that are grown overseas and coated with chemicals). Valentine's Day also falls in the middle of winter when we're all tired of the cold, and a big batch of fresh tulips is the perfect cure!
The Flower House is typically open February 13-14 for Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day flowers can also be pre-ordered on our website store starting in early February (make sure you're signed up for our newsletter to be notified). In addition, multiple retailers in the area carry our tulip bouquets for Valentine's Day so you have plenty of options to shop local this season! Participating locations will be announced to our email subscribers and posted on social media.
